Does anyone have to be present at the installation?
Yes, to ensure everything goes smoothly, we require someone over the age of 18 to be present during any Wightman installation.
Do I need to bring my Wightman equipment to my new home?
Yes. Unless we’ve told you otherwise, bring your Wightman equipment with you when you move. Once you arrive, keep your router, TV set-top boxes, and remotes unpacked and ready for your technician.
How much does it cost to move my services?
Installation or activation fees may apply depending on your new location and the services being moved. However, before your appointment, we’ll review any applicable costs with you so you know what to expect.
How much notice do I need to give?
We recommend contacting us at least 2–3 weeks before your move so we can have your services ready when you move in. However, if you need service sooner, we’ll always do our very best to accommodate your schedule.
Can I keep my current internet plan?
In most cases, yes! If your new home is within our service area, we’ll do our best to transfer your existing services. Then, if different options are available at your new address, we’ll help you choose the plan that’s right for you.
Can I keep my home phone number?
In most cases, yes. If you’re moving within the same local calling area, you can keep your existing phone number. Under CRTC rules, your phone number can be transferred (or “ported”) to your new address.
If you’re moving outside your local calling area, you’ll be assigned a new phone number. Home phone numbers are tied to specific geographic exchange areas, so they generally can’t be transferred to a different city or town.
Will I need a technician?
Most moves require a technician to install or activate your services. When you book your move, we’ll let you know if an appointment is needed.
Do I need to return my equipment?
If you’re moving your Wightman services to your new home, bring your equipment with you unless we’ve instructed you otherwise. This typically includes your Wi-Fi router, TV set-top boxes, remotes, and power cords, so be sure to keep them together and easy to access.
What if I’m leaving the Wightman service area?
If you’re moving outside our service area, contact us as soon as possible. Then, we’ll help you disconnect your services and explain any equipment return requirements.
Will there be any interruption to my services?
We work hard to make your transition as smooth as possible. By scheduling your move in advance, you can help minimize any downtime.
Can I add or change services when I move?
Yes! When you move, you can review your current services and make changes if needed. Additionally, if new options are available at your new address, we’ll help you choose the services that best fit your needs.
What happens if my moving date changes?
No problem! To help us find a new time that works for you, please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll then do our best to reschedule your installation or activation.
I’m moving into a newly built home. What should I do?
For the smoothest installation experience, contact us as early as possible. That way, we can confirm service availability and identify any additional work that may be required ahead of time.
Can I set up service before I move in?
Yes! If you have possession of the home and it’s ready for installation, we can often arrange to have your services installed before moving day. However, please keep in mind that once your services are active, charges will begin to apply.
