Why are there flags on my property?

Flags and markings identify underground utilities to help crews work safely and ensure they do not hit other underground utilities. Please do not remove these.

Will my lawn be repaired?

Yes. Any affected areas will be restored as construction is completed. We will repair the lawn and spread grass seed. All you need to do is water it.

Do I need to be home?

No, you do not usually need to be home during neighbourhood construction. If access to your property or home is required, our team will contact you in advance and arrange an appointment.

How long does construction take?

Construction timelines vary depending on the size of the project area, weather conditions, and permits. Some areas may only see work for a short time, while larger projects can take several weeks to complete. Crews work as efficiently as possible to minimize disruption.

Does this cost me money?

No — there is no cost to have fibre installed to your home as part of the Fibre-to-the-Home project. If you choose to subscribe to Wightman services such as internet, TV, or phone, monthly service pricing will apply based on the package and promotional offer selected.

Will my current internet service be interrupted?

Construction work should not affect your existing services. If any temporary interruption is required, affected residents will be notified in advance.

Will crews need access to my backyard?

In some cases, crews may require access to utility easements or backyard areas to complete construction. Additional notice will be provided if access is needed.

What should I do if I have concerns about my property?

If you have questions or concerns during construction, please contact our team and we will be happy to assist you. 1-888-477-2177.

Do I have to switch to fibre services?

No. Fibre installation in the neighbourhood does not require you to subscribe to services. Residents can choose whether they would like to sign up once service becomes available. However we do suggest looking into why Fibre is the optimal choice for your services.

Who will be performing the construction work?

Construction may be completed by Wightman crews or approved contractors working on behalf of Wightman. In Orangeville, construction is being completed by Avertex Utility Solutions Inc. In most other areas, work is completed by Weber Contracting or Wightman Contracting.
