What is my Username?

The portion of your email address that appears before the ‘@’ symbol.

What is my Password?

This would have been created when you set up your email account.
The requirements for your email password are:

  1. A minimum of 8 characters (we recommend 12 characters)
  2. Use a mixture of uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z), and numbers (0-9)
  3. At least one of each character listed in step 2
  4. No dictionary words or names

What is the difference between IMAP and POP3?

POP3 will download all mail to your computer.

IMAP will leave a copy of your mail on the server so that other devices can access it. Like another computer or a mobile device.

  1. Open the Windows 10 Mail program by clicking on Mail in the Start Menu.
  2. Click on Add Account.
  3. A window will pop up asking you to choose the type of account. On the right hand side, click on the scroll bar and scroll to the bottom in order to show Advanced Setup. Left click on Advanced Setup. The other options will not work correctly with Wightman email accounts.
  4. You can now add the account details. Start with the following:
    1. Email address will be your Wightman email address.
    2. User name is just the first part of the email address, i.e. the username for [email protected] is alan.smithee.
    3. The Password is the password you decided on for your email address.
    4. The Account Name can be anything, it’s a just a local label for the account.
    5. Continuing down, the incoming mail server will be mail.wightman.ca.
    6. For the Incoming email server you will have a choice of POP or IMAP. POP will download all mail to your computer. IMAP will leave a copy of your mail on the server so that other devices can access it.
    7. The Outgoing (SMTP) email server is mail.wightman.ca.
    8. Continuing to scroll down, you will be presented with 4 options, as shown below. Make sure they are ALL checked, then left click Sign In.
  5. The account should now be finished. Left click Done.
  6. Windows 10 Mail should now be ready. Your email will begin downloading into the Inbox.
