We are currently looking to add to our team and are recruiting for the 18-month contract position of Fibre Design Technician.
As a member of the Wightman Access Network Design team, you will be responsible for design work with CAD, SpatialNET, and other various software applications. Additionally, the position is responsible for field review, ensuring that all records are accurate, and designs adhere to Wightman construction practice.
Responsibilities include:
– drafts and designs fibre optic design plans using AutoCAD.
– creation and submission of permit applications as per approved design specs.
– responsible for verification of completed work including project completion to the specific design specs, planning requirements, and on-time delivery.
– updating service orders, fibre design databases, records, and system maps including base maps, cable, fibre routes and addresses.
Requirements we are looking for:
– ability to read and understand maps, documents, enclosure forms, drawings, and diagrams.
– self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
– excellent interpersonal as well as strong organizational, written, verbal, and time management skills.
– a valid G driver’s license with a clean abstract is a must.
– familiarity with AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and/or SpatialNET would be considered an asset.
– experience in managing multiple, simultaneous projects would be considered asset
– previous experience in telecommunications with a proficiency in field construction terminology, processes, and procedures would be considered an asset.
The Fibre Designer’s workday may consist of both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather conditions. This requires our team members to have a strong focus on staying safe through awareness and training.
