Wightman Telecom was the recipient of the Length of Service: 100 Years award at the Owen Sound & District Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Excellence Awards.
The award was given in recognition of outstanding achievement in the Owen Sound area business community, and is on display in our reception room.
The celebratory evening took place on October 29, 2008 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
Wightman Telecom was the recipient of the Company of the Year (over 15), STARS In Business Award at the formal Gala Evening held November 7, 2007 in Arthur. A total of 27 nominations were received for this event for businesses throughout the Saugeen Community. Wightman Telecom President, Paul Wightman is shown accepting the Award and spoke about out the rich 100 year history of the company.
Paul commented "It is especially gratifying to receive this award in your home territory as we approach a century in the telecom business! The Gala creates an opportunity to learn about businesses in the community and to celebrate achievements!" Wightman Telecom wishes to congratulates the nominees and recipients of the STARS Awards and would like to thank the Chambers of Commerce and the Saugeen Economic Development Council.
Wightman Telecom was the proud recipient of the Entrepreneur Business Excellence Award presented on April 24th, 2007 in Orangeville. This gala event, held at the Hockley Valley Resort, had over 350 people in attendance with more than 60 companies nominated! A very creative reception gave everyone time to enjoy the festivities prior to the award ceremony and dinner. The Entrepreneur Business Excellence Award was accepted by our General Manager and is proudly displayed in our reception room.
We would like to thank the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce, the presenters and the generous sponsors for their efforts in making this such an impressive event. We would like to extend our congratulations and continued success to all of the nominees and category winners! This award is presented to a business that has been in business for 1-5 years and has demonstrated success in, but not limited to, the following areas; growth within their market sales, leadership within their sector, innovation, sound business practices, employee relations, workplace safety, accessibility practices, community responsibility and involvement.

The Service/Professional/Commercial Award was presented to Wightman Telecom at the Arden Park Hotel in Stratford the evening of May 4th, 2007. There were over 250 people in attendance at this Gala event. Video clips of the nominees were played while the guests enjoyed a superb dinner. The highest level of recognition we can strive for is to be acknowledged by our peers in the business community and so it was an honour to be recognized and to accept this award. There were seven other nominees in this award category and twenty-three companies in total nominated!
